Conchords & Kiwi's

I saw a show the other day called Flight of the Conchords. It was amazing. Very funny. It's about a 2 piece band from New Zealand (Brett and Jermaine) living in america trying to make it in the music world, they're obviously talented in the real world but i the show they're not too hot. Their manager Murray isn't great either, getting them shows in hotel lobby's and library's. Its hilairous, very well written. It is aired on BBC4 quite a lot of the i think and there's lots on you tube of their equally funny live stuff . Enjoy!!!

I remember about 5+ years ago a friend of mine came back from New Zealand raving about this band called The Flight of the Conchords, he brought with him a cd he'd bought at one of their live sets and it was really quite funny.

Fast forward a few years and I was watching it on the US channel HBO (before it was brought over to the UK) and low and behold its very similar to the original material, just sculpted into a plot obviously.

I think the characters are very like-able in the show which I think is one of the main reasons the pair have been such a success story, all be it a slow one. Mind you for me I think by putting them into a television format sometimes the songs have lost some of their initial charm. Just my own personal perspective on it. I still see the first episode of the series as the best one too, the introduction of the idea and story dynamic works best when its unknown and I think could have been made into a love-able one off.
